For all intents and purposes, Matt Stack is your typical high school student -- he does decent in school and gets fairly good grades and is generally well-liked (among most circles, whereas in others he often gets picked on for being too much of a dork or nerd). With his best friend Steve Foley, Matt has made it through life without really making too many enemies or having too many problems . . . until things get flipped upside down. First, mysterious happenings occur throughout the town of Thomley, alarming the citizens of the usually sleepy town. Then, people go missing and one of Matt's acquaintances is viewed as a potential suspect. And as more and more is uncovered in the shrouded conspiracy, Matt and the rest of the townsfolk realize that a dark presence is among them -- but it just might be too late.

WELL, I BELIEVE it's about time you are all introduced into the world of The Selected, my upcoming full-length debut novel. I've revealed and given vague hints about the plot and world of the story in the past, but things are gradually coming together in the process of story creation, and I am currently in the midst of drafting the final outline of the plot. It's a unique scenario, as this is the most in-depth I've ever gone in creating a world and story before, because this is such a special story to me and one that I've been slowly mulling over in my mind for years now.

It's gone through numerous changes, from characters to story beats and much more, but it is finally coming together into a cohesive story that I cannot wait to share with you all. Of course, that will have to wait until the story is released -- I can't go out and drop some spoilers or anything, obviously -- but I can go ahead and introduce you all to the main characters of the story and give you some basic plot details so you can finally know what this book is about.

As you probably can guess, Matt Stack is our primary protagonist. Where The Selected will really thrive, though, is that it has a pretty massive character roster, and I am working to make each character a living, breathing person, so that each one -- no matter how good or bad they might be -- feels like an actual person and one whose actions have consequences and is an actual impact on the story. It will jump between characters and their own storylines, while weaving them all together into one cohesive story structure that will intertwine into an epic adventure.

Matt is just the first of many characters to be introduced, and over the coming weeks I will continue to reveal the rest of the primary cast. Now these won't be all the characters in the story (as I mentioned, the character roster is pretty vast), but this will be enough for you to get a grip on who's who before the story rolls out. So stay tuned for more character reveals, continuing next week (May 8) -- and remember, not everything is as it seems.
